CHRISTIAN LIFE CHURCH'S
STATEMENT OF FAITH
-
We believe in one God: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit, Creator of all things (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19;
Luke 3:22).
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was
conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, dead, buried,
resurrected, and ascended into heaven, and is now seated at God's right hand
(Matthew 1:23,28:6; Luke 1:31,35,24:39; Acts 1:9,11, 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11;
Hebrews 1:3).
-
We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and
the infallible and inerrant rule of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:15-17;
Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:21).
-
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the
saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost (Acts 24:15; Romans 1:4,6:5; 1
Corinthians 15:12-18).
-
We believe in personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of
Jesus Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 4:12, 13:39; Romans 1:16,3:24,5:1, 10:10; 1
Corinthians 6:11; Galatians 2:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:9).
-
We believe in sanctification through the Word of God by the Holy Spirit,
and in personal holiness of heart and life (John 17:17,19; Romans 15:16; 1
Corinthians 6:11; Ephesians 5:26; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Timothy 2:21; Hebrews
10:10; I Peter 3:15).
-
We believe in divine healing through faith in the name of Jesus Christ,
and that healing is included in the redemption of man. We also believe in the
ministries of deliverance, reconciliation, and restoration (Isaiah 53:4-5;
Matthew 12:10-13; James 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24).
-
We believe in water baptism by immersion and in the baptism in the Holy
Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit
gives the utterance at or after new birth; and, in the spiritual manifestation
and fruit promised to every believer (Matthew 28: 19; Acts 1 :5, 2:4,38; Romans
12:6-8; I Corinthians 12:7-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Colossians 2:7).
-
We believe in partaking of the elements of Communion--the Lord's
Supper--to show the Lord's death till He comes. The bread symbolizes the Lord's
broken body. The cup represents the new covenant in His blood which provides us
forgiveness and relationship with God (1 Corinthians 11:23-31; Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24; Hebrews 9).
-
We believe in prayer as a primary means of speaking to and hearing from
God, and that a personal prayer language is given to every believer who desires
it for personal edification (Matthew 6:5-13; Luke 18:lff; Romans 8:26; 1 Timothy
2:8; Jude 20).
-
We believe in the scriptural pattern of church government through the
ministries of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers; and, in
God's plan for spiritual authority within the church (1Corinthians 12:28;
Ephesians 4:11-17).
-
We believe in the active work of evangelism and missions in accordance
with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 24:48-49; Acts
1:8).
-
We believe in the literal second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to gather
His prepared church to be with Him forever (Acts 1: 11; 1 Thessalonians 4:
16-17; Revelation 1:7, 19: 11-16, 22:7).
